COSTA RICA
When the global pandemic disrupted all plans for in-person classes in 2020, Perspectivas Costa Rica worked together with all the Ibero-American programs to prepare the first Spanish virtual class, attracting students from Central and South America and as far away as Japan!
The virtual classes helped build a hunger for Perspectivas classes. Costa Rica serves as an Anchor Country in the region, helping initiate, coach, and resource new national Perspectivas programs in Central America and the Caribbean.
Perspectivas Costa Rica is uniting denominations, mission agencies, and para-church organizations that share one heart for God’s global mission. God has grown the movement through the years, mobilizing the Costa Rican church to extend God’s glory to all the world’s peoples.
Perspectivas Costa Rica started in 2011, before there was a translation of the curriculum into Spanish. During the first two years the course was conducted in English until the Spanish edition, Perspectivas del Movimiento Christiano Mundial was released in 2013. The Spanish edition catalyzed the multiplication of Perspectivas in Costa Rica.
As the Costa Rican program matured, opportunities arose for the leadership team to serve Peru and Bolivia in the early stage of initiating a national program. In 2019 Perspectivas Costa Rica was designated as the Mentor Country for emerging programs in Central America and the Caribbean. In 2020, Costa Rica mentored Guatemala and Panama in conducting their first classes and in 2021 was part of the Perspectives team hosting the introductory class in Dominican Republic.
